The useful distinction
Both products deserve investigation when a host wants a managed booking workflow. Lodgify describes an embeddable booking widget; Hospitable distinguishes Direct Basic and Direct Premium. That difference makes a generic cheapest-platform verdict unreliable. Decide whether you need checkout on an existing website, a new site, or a more managed direct-booking arrangement before looking at a monthly headline.
Separate subscription and booking charges
Hospitable’s dated fee guidance lists different host and guest service-fee arrangements for its Direct options; payment processing and subscription costs must be understood separately. Do not turn a percentage into a cost estimate without specifying the amount it applies to. Ask both vendors for an example statement using the same fictional reservation, including the guest total and expected host receipt.
Test the same exception
Use a fictional guest who changes dates after an initial payment. Ask where the change is made, how the channel calendar responds, who communicates the new amount and how a refund would be handled. This is a demonstration request, not permission to create a live charge. A polished booking screen cannot answer responsibility questions on its own.
How to decide
Prefer the arrangement whose responsibilities you understand and whose required features are available in your country and plan. If an existing website is valuable, test that exact integration path rather than a vendor showcase. If a managed service appeals, read its eligibility and exclusions. Compare the fee and workflow boundaries
